Our Heritage
Four Generations of Warmth.
A recipe born in a family kitchen, passed from grandmother to son to grandson to great grandkids — and now to yours.
Where It All Began
Grandma Deucher's Kitchen
Every great recipe has an origin story. Ours begins with Grandma Deucher — a Spanish and Mexican woman married to a Swiss man who loved hot chocolate. In her kitchen, she perfected a recipe unlike anything store-bought: rich, creamy, made with real milk, real chocolate, the secret ingredients to make it thick, creamy rich, and like no other hot chocolate, and finished with melted marshmallows that dissolve into the cup before you drink it.
She never wrote it down, she didn't need to. She perfected it and made it from memory, from instinct, from decades of knowing exactly what warmth tasted like.
Passed Down with Love
A Son Carries the Tradition
A tradition of love continues... For Grandma Deucher's son, her hot chocolate was one of the sweetest memories of growing up. Rich, creamy, and filled with marshmallows that had already melted in the chocolate, it was a taste of home he never forgot. When he got married, his wife - our current Grandma D - learned the treasured recipe from Grandma Deucher, carrying that familiar warmth into their own home. What began as a mother's special recipe became a tradition shared by another generation. Over the years, she made it for her children and family gatherings and holidays, keeping alive something that meant so much to her husband. *The recipe was passed down not simply because it was delicious, but because it was loved.*
The recipe remained unchanged. The warmth remained unchanged. Only the hands making it were different.
The Third Generation
A Family Tradition Becomes a Calling
By the third generation, something had become clear: this recipe was too special to keep within one family. Friends who tasted it asked for the secret. Neighbors requested it for gatherings. The response was always the same — pure, uncomplicated joy.
That's when the idea of Grandma D's was born. Not solely as a business venture, but as an extension of what the recipe had always been: a gift meant to be shared.
Today
Sharing the Recipe with the World
Today, Grandma D's Gourmet Hot Chocolate brings that same four-generation recipe to Christmas markets, private celebrations, weddings, missionary receptions, hot chocolate trucks, and corporate gatherings across the region. Every cup is made the way Grandma Deucher made it — with real ingredients, real care, and the belief that warmth is best when it's shared. And coming soon, our first brick and mortar store!
We haven't changed a thing. We never will.
Four generations. One extraordinary cup.
